About The Position

The Champaign Park District is seeking a dynamic and community-focused Adult and Senior Program Coordinator to lead engaging, inclusive programs that enrich the lives of adults and seniors. In this role, you will design and oversee a diverse range of recreational, educational, fitness, and social programs that promote well-being, connection, and lifelong learning. This position plays a key role in building community relationships, supervising staff and volunteers, and ensuring every participant enjoys a safe, welcoming, and rewarding experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports, and Tourism, or a related field, or four (4) years of experience in the field
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Two (2) years of successful experience in recreation programming
  • Demonstrated skill in leading, supervising, and coordinating staff members
  • Demonstrated success in building community relationships and participation in programs and events through proactive outreach and engagement
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Demonstrated experience providing professional customer service and resolving patron concerns effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, budget, plan, and implement projects with multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable software
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and evaluate diverse adult and senior programs based on community needs and trends
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time staff and volunteers
  • Manage program budgets, purchasing, and financial tracking
  • Maintain accurate program records and participant databases
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with community groups
  • Collaborate with Marketing to promote programs, events, and excursions
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and on-site supervision
  • Ensure monthly newsletters and calendars are distributed to senior participants
  • Monitor program effectiveness through attendance tracking and participant feedback
  • Uphold all safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunity standards
