About the position

The ADU Utility Driver position at Smithfield Foods involves assisting in various tasks within the site, including sanitation, transloading, groundskeeping, and emergency animal removal. The role requires operating farm equipment and maintaining biosecurity protocols while ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Follow biosecurity paths when driving from site to site to pickup mortality.
• Maintain sanitation by cleaning and sanitizing all ADU vehicles and equipment using high volume/high pressure spraying equipment.
• Perform interior detailing and cleaning of all ADU vehicles and equipment as needed or requested.
• Keep the truck wash area clean and free of safety hazards.
• Prepare and maintain sanitation service records.
• Assemble ADU containers and load them for onsite pickup using a forklift.
• Assist in emergency spill cleanups with mortality removal.
• Maintain grounds and facility upkeep by cutting grass, taking out trash, and cleaning inside and outside the facility.
• Follow the safety requirements of the Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS).
• Abide by all company policies, procedures, and guidelines as directed.
• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change plans according to leadership direction.
• Work as a team player to accomplish daily department work requirements and goals.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental laws and procedures.
• Report all environmental issues immediately to the supervisor.
• Understand the company's emergency notification process as it applies to the worksite.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform hard physical labor.
• Strong commitment to teamwork.
• Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
• Willingness to be on call when needed.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate forklift and standard farm/utility equipment.
• Must hold a current NC Driver's License.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented.
