About The Position

We invite you to apply to join our team at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago team as the Assistant Bar Manager at Aorn Bar & Restaurant. The Assistant Bar Manager assists the Restaurant Management Team with the direction of all aspects of the Food & Beverage division planning, organizing, control and direct the work of employees in the hotel while ensuring guest satisfaction amongst others. Works quickly in high-pressure environment and ability to handle multiple tasks at once.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage operation.
  • Excellent leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • One to two years previous employment in a related position.
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Current Illinois Food Handlers Certificate and be TiPS certified.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for customer service.
  • US work authorization is required unless candidate is currently in a managerial position at a Four Seasons location.

  • Current Four Seasons managers may qualify for L-1 visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees in the bar and restaurant area of the Hotel's All-Day or Fine Dining Restaurant to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met.
  • Daily activities and planning for outlet operation.
  • Be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts.
  • Describe and ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, as well as provide expert knowledge of wine and spirits in an elegantly appointed environment dedicated to an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control.
  • Attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Oversee beverage inventory with assistance of bar team.
  • Identify and manage all aspects pertinent to providing guests with the atmosphere standard set by management upon opening (lighting, music volume, crowd density, etc.).
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings keeping staff informed about developments in the restaurant, the industry and the future.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in quality of service, operational effectiveness, and employee retention and satisfaction.
  • Support FOH team in all aspects of dining room service.
  • May assist in other Food and Beverage outlets as needed.
  • Contribute to our environment with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure the highest level of personalized service.
