About The Position

University Innovation Adoption & Professional Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing digital learning and innovation across the university. This position leads faculty, staff, and student training initiatives in artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, ensuring readiness and adoption. In addition to evaluating and piloting new tools, the role designs and delivers professional development programs that empower academic units to integrate AI and digital solutions effectively. The specialist collaborates with CITL, IT, and Academic Affairs to foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning. The University Innovation Adoption & Professional Development Coordinator also plays a supporting role in the Division of Digital Learning, reporting to the Director of University Innovation. This position bridges innovation implementation between academic and operational units, helping to evaluate, communicate, and integrate emerging technologies and process improvements. This coordinator works closely with CITL, IT, DARPA, Academic Affairs, and other departments to support end-user readiness and adoption of new tools and platforms. They help coordinate pilots, gather feedback, and provide user-focused insights that guide institutional decisions. The specialist also plays a key role in the early-stage vetting of new innovations, helping to build shortlists for leadership review. In addition, this position provides support to the Associate Provost of Academic Innovation & Digital Learning (AIDL) and the Director as needed. This role is ideal for a proactive, tech-savvy generalist and trainer who thrives on learning, collaboration, and helping others adapt to change. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
  • Experience designing and delivering technology training or professional development programs.
  • Strong understanding of AI applications in education and related compliance considerations.
  • Higher education or professional experience in academic technology, innovation adoption, or digital operations
  • Familiarity with educational and operational technology tools and trends
  • Ability to analyze, vet, and summarize new digital tools for higher education
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and with cross-functional teams
  • Comfort with ambiguity and learning new technologies quickly

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead workshops, webinars, and resources focused on AI tools, digital learning platforms, and emerging technologies for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Develop strategies for scalable training and ongoing support.
  • Serve as the campus resource for AI adoption in teaching, learning, and operations.
  • Provide guidance on ethical use, data privacy, and compliance (FERPA, accessibility).
  • Conduct initial research, testing, and evaluation of emerging tools and platforms; create recommendation summaries.
  • Assist with the development of specifications and reviews tools to ensure feasibility.
  • Assist in the selection, negotiation, and managing cross- departmental and vendor activities.
  • Monitor adoption challenges and user support needs; help design training or resource solutions.
  • Assist in coordinating pilot projects and gathering end-user feedback to inform scale-up decisions.
  • Collaborate with CITL and IT to coordinate technology onboarding, documentation, and communication.
  • Provide support to the Director and Associate Provost on assigned projects and tasks.
  • Track and document progress of innovation projects and prepare briefing materials.
  • Tracks progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, and other performance indicators.
