About The Position

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Fleetwood Post Acute is a leadership role focused on enhancing the skills of clinical staff to ensure the highest quality of care for residents. The ADON will work closely with the Director of Nursing to manage the Nursing Service Department, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards while fostering a supportive and effective clinical team environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Experience in Infection Prevention is required.
  • Strong leadership and management skills in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of state nursing statutes and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement nursing policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in geriatrics and behavior management.
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Service Department.
  • Coordinate nursing care for patients, including planning, implementing, and evaluating care and collaborating with other healthcare providers.
  • Perform safety assessments of patients and the work environment to ensure satisfactory standards of nursing practice.
  • Maintain current knowledge of geriatrics, behavior management, and other areas relevant to the care of the elderly.
  • Provide education to staff regarding the development of continuing competence in geriatric care.
  • Overall management of the entire nursing department and staffing levels.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure resident safety and that all residents are treated with utmost respect.
  • Develop and conduct in-services for the clinical staff.
  • Responsible for the training of nursing staff.
  • Coordinate pharmacy services and the destruction of expired/discontinued medication.
  • Act as a liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members.
  • Work closely with all other departments to ensure excellent overall resident care.
  • Responsible for department budgeting and reporting.
  • Keep current on any regulation changes and disseminate this information.
