About The Position

The Adolescent Health Specialist at Variety Care is responsible for providing outreach and health education to adolescents on various topics including family planning, STI prevention, and sexual health. This role involves coordinating outreach efforts, managing clinic operations, and conducting educational classes to promote healthy relationships and reproductive health among teens. The specialist will work closely with community partners and engage in various administrative functions to support the Teen Clinic services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with experience working with target population or in public health or related field.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Health education experience preferred.
  • Experience with at-risk youth preferred.
  • Dynamic facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong technology skills and good record-keeping abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to memorize large amounts of information quickly.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • CHES Certification preferred - must be willing to become CHES Certified within the first year of employment if applicable.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced classroom environment.
  • Energetic about adolescents and education.

Responsibilities

  • Provides outreach and health education in family planning, birth control methods, STI prevention, HIV/AIDS education, consent, body image, sexual orientation, and other areas as indicated.
  • Coordinates outreach to the student body about teen-friendly clinics.
  • Assists in management of Teen Clinic Text Hotline and patient registration forms.
  • Schedules Teen Clinic patient appointments and creates patient profiles in EPIC EMR.
  • Conducts overview trainings of Teen Clinic Services for youth, caregivers, clinical staff, and partnering organizations.
  • Performs professional service and administrative functions such as new patient registration and obtaining patient registration information.
  • Answers Teen Clinic hotline messages and scans medical records.
  • Manages social media content related to Teen Clinic services.
  • Connects with community partners to plan and execute events.
  • Creates promotional and informational print collateral to increase access to Teen Clinic Services.
  • Conducts education classes on healthy relationships and reproduction to various audiences.
  • Teaches sexual health education topics inclusively and age-appropriately.
  • Conducts outreach activities with local school districts.
  • Participates in training and staff development workshops.
  • Completes documents for assessment and evaluation for the program.
  • Works closely with other team members to function cohesively.
