About The Position

Admitting Technician UnityPoint Health - Allen Shift: Part-time; 1030 PM – 7 AM; Every other weekend; every other holiday Benefits Eligible Creates accurate and thorough registration for each patient visit. Responsible for obtaining demographic and financial information, as well as obtaining signatures required for successful billing submission. Collects patient liability before or at the time of service as defined by the patient’s insurance plan. Identifies those patients who may need financial assistance. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheets, email and web browser.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-year medical office or equivalent experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Register patients
  • Review and gathering of patient demographics and insurance
  • Need ability to understand insurance cards and policies/co-pays/deductibles
  • Acquiring & explaining all required patient signatures for consents
  • Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls
  • Create & present visit estimates
  • Ask for payments
  • Meet point of service goals & standards
  • Balance and close cash drawers
  • Mandatory Staff Meetings
  • Huddles
  • Training
  • Must be comfortable working both independently and in a team setting
  • Understand abide by EMTALA and HIPAA guidelines
  • Position will receive high volumes of communication via text or calls regarding open shift needs within the department
