About The Position

The Admitting Representative (ED) at MarinHealth Medical Center is responsible for coordinating the efficient admission of inpatients and registration of outpatients. This role ensures accurate patient information collection, minimizes wait times, and maintains high patient satisfaction levels. The representative will also handle financial transactions related to patient admissions and provide excellent customer service throughout the process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in healthcare or business preferred.
  • One or more years of experience in an acute care setting, preferably in Admitting/Registration or Insurance Verification.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Working knowledge of the admissions process, insurance verification, and customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, preferably in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to problem solve, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clerical roles within a healthcare setting.
  • BLS-HCP certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) Training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and registration of outpatients.
  • Ensure accurate patient information is collected and maintained.
  • Minimize patient wait times and maintain high levels of patient satisfaction.
  • Prepare materials related to the admission and registration processes.
  • Collect required deposits, copayments, co-insurances, or deductibles.
  • Greet patients promptly and courteously, directing them to appropriate areas.
  • Process registration records and distribute information to hospital departments.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of insurance and billing requirements for accurate registration.
  • Communicate with patients regarding their insurance benefits and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Identify and resolve problems with insurance companies prior to and following admission.
