About The Position

The Admissions Specialist - Admitting position at Texas Health Flower Mound is a part-time role requiring 24 hours of work per week on a rotating schedule. The work hours include Sundays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Mondays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and every other Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The role involves a week of system training and at least two weeks of classroom training. The admitting department is known for its collaborative and innovative environment, with a strong investment in employee development.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 Year relevant Customer Service experience required.
• 2 Years Professional office/healthcare experience preferred.
• CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate upon hire preferred.
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days required.
• Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigational skills.
• Proficient in medical terminology, Epic, Microsoft Office, and assorted software programs.
• Exceptional listening, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
• High level of empathy and exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and their families upon arrival, ensuring a comforting atmosphere.
• Accurately gather complete demographic information for electronic health record integrity.
• Identify correct network coverage and validate healthcare benefits for tests and procedures.
• Educate patients and families about legal, ethical, and compliance documents.
• Engage with patients regarding their financial obligations and prepare estimates for payments.
• Complete all required elements for payor and government compliance.
• Stay updated and comply with all applicable regulations and policies.
