POSITION: Review medical and clinical referral information for appropriateness of admission. Assess patients through a systematic process of interacting with patient, the patient’s significant others, and the appropriate health care providers. When requested, collect, and analyze data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, and anticipated discharge planning needs. Complete Medication Reconciliation and brief nursing assessment for admitted patients. Receives RN report from referring/receiving facility RN. Administer medication as ordered and monitor for side effects, as needed. . Participate in Emergency Services emergency codes necessary to the department’s safe operation. Assist with communicating patient needs and history via report to RN on receiving inpatient units. SCHEDULE: Due to the 24/7 environment of the Admissions Department, full-time schedules are subject to change occasionally to meet the needs of patient admissions and referrals. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Experience: One year inpatient med/surg RN experience preferred . One year Psychiatric RN (inpatient or outpatient) experience preferred Licensure/Certification: Current North Carolina State Registered Nurse License or Multistate License Current CPR Certification through the American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider Level CPI Certification (provided) Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients. Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
