The Admissions Registered Nurse is primarily responsible for completing the RN admission process for patients being admitted through the Emergency Department. This includes comprehensive assessments, medical history collection, medication reconciliation, full-body skin screenings, Braden risk assessments, imaging of skin disruptions, and initiating pressure injury protocols as needed. Beyond direct patient care, this position involves engaging in collaborative relationships, applying leadership principles, and ensuring professional growth and accountability. The role requires providing accountable nursing care based on American Nursing Association standards and the Florida Nurse Practice Act, utilizing the nursing process for data collection and diagnosis. Additionally, this nurse will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the Intake or Admissions department, which includes providing direction, coordinating staffing and scheduling for 7-day coverage, reviewing medical records for eligibility, managing referrals, and collaborating on readmissions. The position also entails financial adherence to the department's budget, monitoring human resource allocation to avoid overtime, and maintaining adequate resources. Compliance and quality assurance are key, ensuring departmental activities meet state and federal regulations, modeling ethical standards, and educating staff on policies. Human Resources duties include implementing HR policies, interviewing and hiring new employees, ensuring staff orientation and ongoing education, recognizing staff, and providing corrective actions.
