About The Position

The Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman transfer, and high school concurrent students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with faculty/staff, parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant community with limitless potential by recruiting the most academically qualified students with a variety of educational, service, involvement and community experiences. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, AND:
  • 5 years of related experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
  • Working knowledge of student privacy laws.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases
  • Some travel required for recruiting
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Ability to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone.
  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop the Events Team (2 FTEs) while providing training and guidance to Admissions & Recruitment staff on event planning, execution, and committee leadership.
  • Oversee the strategic planning and long-term vision for the university’s recruitment event portfolio, ensuring events align with institutional enrollment goals and prospective student decision making milestones.
  • Direct the planning and execution of large-scale recruitment events, such as Future Sooner Fridays, Admitted Student Day, Sooner Saturday, Evening with OU, and other special event programs serving thousands of prospective students and families annually.
  • Develop and manage event registration, communication, and marketing materials including print and digital content to effectively promote recruitment events and ensure clear communication with prospective students and families.
  • Coordinate event logistics including venue reservations, program schedules, speakers, catering, lodging, transportation, and day of event operations to ensure seamless execution of recruitment events.
  • Lead the strategy and planning for academic college and departmental/student organization partner events, serving as a liaison, providing data and information, coordinating logistics, timelines, and communication for more than 60+ annual events with academic colleges and campus partners.
  • Lead the development and oversight of event budgets for individual recruitment programs.
  • Analyze attendance, engagement, guest feedback, and conversion data from recruitment events to evaluate effectiveness and inform future programming, messaging, and event strategy.
  • Partner with admissions leadership and recruitment teams to ensure event experiences are intentionally designed to move students through key stages of the enrollment funnel from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Establish and maintain standards for visitor hospitality, event flow, and program quality to ensure a consistently high-quality experience for prospective students and families.
  • Collaborate with our campus tour team to train and guide student employees in event support roles that enhance guest experience and operational success.
  • Support daily visit operations by assisting the Campus Experience team with training student employees and helping oversee daily campus visits and in person operations.
  • Guide the planning and execution of high-volume campus visit and recruitment events, that collectively serve thousands of prospective students, families, and counselors each year.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the events team, regional and national recruitment events, and personalized campus visit experiences.
  • Works with prospective students and their families throughout the admission, scholarship, housing, financial aid, and enrollment processes.
  • Presents information to various prospective students and other groups regarding The University of Oklahoma, higher education, financial aid and other related topics.
  • Supports the development and execution of recruitment strategies, initiatives, and operational efforts that advance the university’s enrollment goals through serving on committees and performing special projects.
  • Designs and implements programs that support the university’s admissions and recruitment efforts, including campus events, visit experiences, communication campaigns, and special programs.
  • Evaluates emerging trends and data in recruitment and campus visit experiences at the regional and national level.
  • Contributes to establishing policies, procedures, and operational objectives that enhance the effectiveness of recruitment efforts.
  • Develops relationships with resident and non-resident high school counselors to inform them of opportunities at OU for their students.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
