About The Position

AdCare Rhode Island is a 59-bed inpatient alcohol and drug treatment center with a mission of providing transformational recovery experiences to individuals struggling with substance dependence. The state-of-the-art facility is nestled on 22 acres of peaceful New England woodland in historic North Kingstown. The campus is conveniently located just minutes away from both the airport and downtown Providence. AdCare RI is also located close to pristine beaches and recreational areas. The newly renovated facility is outfitted with semi-private rooms with baths, fitness center, basketball court, and many other amenities. This position is 32 hours weekly 3-11PM.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, communicate and understand directions in English.
• Demonstrates accuracy in taking manual vital signs.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships, intervene in difficult situations and provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask.
• Computer literate.
• Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
• Knowledge of addiction and chemical dependency.
• Ability to use defibrillation equipment.
• Must have excellent nursing skills.
• Experience working in detox, addiction, and mental health environments is preferred.
• RN license and CPR certification required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor Degree in Nursing required.
• Background in utilization review helpful.

Responsibilities

• Complete the nursing admissions process, including explaining services and related costs, and conducting telephonic/in person intake screenings to assess the client's situation.
• Deliver the highest quality customer service standards of care and productivity for internal and external clients.
• Review admission referrals and coordinate with navigators to ensure proper placement.
• Triage all incoming clients for intended level of care.
• Call the appropriate team member (e.g. Medical Director) to provide all non-life threatening medical and medication concerns to obtain guidance regarding their plan of action for the client.
• Identify client care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual clients and in partnership with other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
• Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to clients and families.
• Promote client's independence by establishing client care goals, teaching client to understand condition, medications and self-care requirements, and answering questions.
• Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against client care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protect clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Document patient care services by charting in client and department records.
• Maintain interdepartmental continuity of care by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing orders for supplies.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
• Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem solving methods.
• Follow incident reporting policy and procedure, reporting any potential safety issues in a timely fashion.
• Demonstrate skills of delegation, organization and coordination of assigned services, delegating responsibilities to designated staff as appropriate.
• Function as a role model for nursing staff.
• Provide pertinent communication to the Director of Nursing regarding levels of staff performance.
• Effectively prioritize communication issues pertaining to all departments and provide collaborative intervention as needed.
• Exercise good judgment and discretion in deviating from policy in circumstances where strict adherence would pose a risk to the patient, visitor, staff or facility.
• Participate in Performance Improvement data collection, analysis, reporting and staff education.
• Assist in providing essential training to the new staff.
• Coordinate with providers and nurses regarding the plan of care to provide the individual treatment needed.
• Regular and consistent attendance is required.
• Other duties as assigned within scope of the position.
