About The Position

Transylvania University is seeking talented, enthusiastic, creative professionals who will bring a unique perspective to our Office of Admission. The admissions team at Transy plays a vital role in sustaining the life of The College, and takes a collaborative approach to recruiting a talented, diverse, and unique student body. The successful candidate’s primary role is in building relationships with students and their families, high school counselors, alumni, as well as members of our faculty and staff. The counselors will successfully represent The College and its commitment to the liberal arts and its exceptional community. This position will have territory management responsibilities, including, but not limited to the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of prospective students from specific geographic regions. The ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends is required. Heavy travel during the fall semester with additional more limited travel in the spring should be expected, with the possibility of other travel throughout the year. Location & Schedule: This role is primarily conducted in person and will be housed at the Office of Admission. Office hours are Monday through Friday. This is an exempt position, as such, the work schedule may vary depending on job responsibilities. Often communication with prospective students and their families will occur outside of regular office hours. Other recruitment activities will include staffing on campus and off campus events, attending special programs and meeting with our guests as they visit campus. This includes some weekend and evening hours. Who We Are Seeking: We encourage applications from individuals who will help us create a more inclusive Transy by: (A) further diversifying the staff; and/or (B) demonstrating experience serving diverse populations; and (C) showing interest in addressing the needs of a diverse student, faculty, staff and community particularly related to antiracism. This is an entry level position, and as such, 0-4 years of professional experience is appropriate. Recent graduates and students about to graduate from college are welcome to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Desire to contribute to a professional environment built on positivity, energetic, dynamic, high functioning teamwork to achieve a shared goal
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for a liberal arts education; ability to establish rapport easily with a wide variety of people
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing, oral communication and oral presentations
  • Competence in information technology and electronic communication, and ability to utilize this format for interacting with prospective students and parents
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Critical reasoning, sound judgment and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with College policy
  • Must have successful completion of criminal record check
  • Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends
