About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Admissions Counselor in Boca Raton, FL. This role is vital for building strong partnerships with alumni, school counselors, and university stakeholders to drive enrollment, while guiding prospective students and families through the admissions process. The counselor will be responsible for developing and implementing recruitment activities for assigned counties in Florida and other key recruitment markets nationwide. This includes collaborating with staff and faculty in Student Affairs & Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs for recruitment, onboarding, and enrollment of new students, and establishing effective communication with high school counselors and state college advisors. The position involves counseling and advising prospective students and families about opportunities at Florida Atlantic University, managing a recruitment territory using data analytics, and being accountable for generating reports and meeting enrollment goals. Communication with potential students will occur via in-person interactions, phone, email, and text. The role requires participation in high school visits, college nights/fairs, conducting presentations, and participating in call nights throughout the recruiting cycle. Significant travel during the week, weekend, and nights is required. The Admissions Counselor represents the entire university, utilizing an understanding of university policies and procedures, maintaining a professional presence, and providing accurate information while adhering to university and higher education best practices. Support for on-campus recruitment events such as Open Houses and other Divisional events is also expected.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Daily contact with students, faculty, staff, and the general public, which includes prospective student advising.
  • Local, and regional travel is an integral part of this position.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Qualify for car rental.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing recruitment activities for assigned counties in Florida, as well as other key recruitment markets nationwide.
  • Work with regional alumni in cooperation with the Alumni and Admissions Offices to support the University's recruitment efforts.
  • Partner and collaborate with staff and faculty in Student Affairs & Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs for recruitment, onboarding, and enrollment of new students.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and rapport with high school counselors and state college advisors.
  • Counsel and advise prospective students, applicants, and family members about opportunities at Florida Atlantic University.
  • Manage a recruitment territory, using data, data analytics tools, and university dashboards to drive decisions, and consider ROI in recruitment events, travel, and marketing efforts.
  • Responsible and accountable for generating reports, informing, and meeting goals within their territory and providing input to admissions and student affairs leadership to inform the bigger enrollment picture.
  • Provide In-person, phone, email, and text to communicate to potential students.
  • Responsible for participating in high school visits, college nights/fairs, conducting presentations through multiple communication channels, and participating in call nights as scheduled throughout the recruiting cycle.
  • Admissions Travel during the week, weekend, and nights is required.
  • Responsible for representing the entire university to prospective students, families, and high school guidance counselors.
  • Utilizes an understanding of university policies and procedures, a professional presence, and gives accurate information while abiding by the university and higher education best practices.
  • Support all on-campus recruitment events such as Open Houses and other Divisional events.
