About The Position
The Admissions Counselor serves the Pampell Online Division by assisting prospective students from their application to Houston Baptist University (HBU) through acceptance. This role is crucial in guiding students through the admissions process, ensuring they have the necessary information and support to make informed decisions about their education. The Admissions Counselor will communicate all admissions, academic, and administrative policies, advising students on the necessary next steps to complete their applications successfully. This position requires a strong commitment to providing accurate information to prospective students as they consider their educational opportunities with HBU. In addition to advising students, the Admissions Counselor will assist students in setting short-term goals and will follow up with them to ensure they are on track. A working knowledge of all university resources is essential, as the counselor must effectively communicate necessary information to prospective students. The ability to assist students while utilizing several resources simultaneously is critical, as is the capacity to provide excellent customer service and support to prospective, new, and matriculated students. The role also involves utilizing proactive outreach strategies to build strong working relationships with the student population. The Admissions Counselor is expected to respond to emails and/or phone calls within 24 business hours, with the goal of same-day responses. Additionally, the counselor may be assigned special projects and temporary duties as needed, contributing to the overall success of the admissions team and the university's mission.
