About The Position

The Admissions Counselor plays a crucial role in the admissions process at Phoenix House, working under the supervision of the Director of Admissions and Admissions Manager. This position involves screening, interviewing, and assessing potential patients to determine their suitability for treatment. The counselor is responsible for coordinating the admission process, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with state licensing requirements. Additionally, the role includes community outreach and marketing efforts to enhance the program's referral base.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or GED
  • Minimum two years working in substance use treatment admissions
  • Familiarity with regulations governing substance use treatment services

Responsibilities

  • Conducts level of care assessments.
  • Performs case conference assessments with medical/psych department plus campus leader.
  • Coordinates and completes the admission process to maintain an accurate daily census.
  • Assists in making referrals to patients that are not appropriate for our services.
  • Coordinates and completes the admission of patients with approval by their authorized representatives and/or funding agencies.
  • Performs assessments, screening, and crisis intervention with patients as required.
  • Evaluates test results, psych evaluations, and other reports/interviews to determine if candidate is appropriate for treatment at Phoenix House.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with the expectations and standards of Phoenix House policy and procedures and state licensing requirements.
  • Participates in clinical reviews, staff meetings, trainings, and other meetings in accordance with program needs.
  • Establishes and maintains community agency communications and contacts.
  • Assists in marketing the program and increasing the referral base.
  • Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements.
  • Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House mission and values. Acts as a role model to patients and other staff.
  • Adheres to the professional ethics and conduct of standards as established by professional licensure and the policies of Phoenix House.
