About The Position

The Admissions Counselor at the University of Utah plays a crucial role in enhancing the university's recruitment efforts for domestic first-year and transfer students. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Adept interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to multiple audiences.
  • Problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Understanding of higher education, specifically the value of public higher education.

  • Ability to speak in front of large groups.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, reporting, and assessing a recruitment plan for domestic first-year and transfer students.
  • Implementing a recruitment plan that includes high school visits, college fairs, information sessions, receptions, and meetings with counselors and prospective students.
  • Establishing personalized relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, alumni, and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the admission and recruitment of transfer students from institutions within an assigned territory.
  • Collaborating with the campus experience team to plan off-campus admission events.
  • Evaluating all domestic applications in the regional territory.
  • Traveling significantly for up to 4-6 weeks annually within the territory.
