About The Position

The admissions counselor for traditional students proactively contacts and/or responds to inquiries from potential students to discuss their educational goals and provide information about the benefits of attending Lindenwood University. This position recruits, onboards, and supports students from inquiry to enrollment and coordinates with Student Financial Services (SFS), Admissions, and Academic Affairs to ensure a streamlined and user-friendly process. The admissions counselor also delivers upon the University’s vision to be the next great learner-centric university by providing unparalleled service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales or recruitment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Customer-service oriented with excellent attention to detail
  • Comprehensive knowledge of degree programs, marketing, and public relations principles
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Organized with the ability to multitask, use good judgement, and think critically
  • Strong professional integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Knowledge of general office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work effectively at a computer and/or on a phone for several hours at a time
  • Adequately mobile to attend events on- and off-campus
  • Ability to lift/carry items commonly found in an office setting including, but not limited to, documents, laptops, etc.
  • Ability to use repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements to type regularly
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in post-secondary education recruitment preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages recruitment and admissions processes
  • Interacts with a high volume of potential students, using telephone, text, email, video conferencing, etc.; builds relationships with students in order to help them realize their potential and guide them to an enrollment decision
  • Assists in managing day-to-day operation of St. Charles and other University-affiliated offices
  • Determines financial aid qualifications and/or awards; creates financial award packages for new students in collaboration with Student Financial Services (SFS) and in accordance with the University’s institutional aid policy
  • Represents University admissions at school visits, community events, college fairs, and all other recruitment initiatives
  • Meets recruitment goals and adheres to departmental policies for student outreach
  • Meets with prospective students and families to explain program offerings; completes new student paperwork; reviews admissibility standards
  • Complies with federal, state, institution, and accreditation policies and procedures
  • Completes routine reports for recruitment, projections, scheduling, and development
  • Maintains accurate records and data on applicants and admitted students
  • Adheres to University policies regarding travel and procurement
  • Makes admissions recommendations based on holistic review of academic profile and extracurricular qualifications
  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values
  • Serves as a student concierge, listening attentively to students’ needs, providing solutions, and connecting them with appropriate supporting departments
  • Evaluates effectiveness of programs, assesses outcomes, and develops improved programming for the University; identifies opportunities for process improvements and shares student feedback with relevant departments
  • Communicates and tracks all correspondence with current and prospective students within the appropriate application
  • Collaborates with all University departments and academic schools to provide superior student service
  • Assists other recruitment divisions to meet departmental needs and goals
  • Job may require other duties as assigned.
