About The Position

The Admissions Counselor I plays a crucial role in the recruitment of prospective students and provides direct support throughout the admissions process until initial enrollment at the University of the Incarnate Word. This position involves managing communication with prospective students, coordinating recruitment events, and collaborating with other university staff to facilitate admissions processes. The Admissions Counselor I reports to the Associate Director of Freshmen Admissions and is expected to travel within Texas for recruitment activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • One year of customer service and/or marketing experience in an office environment.
  • Valid driver license with 'Real ID' designation or ability to obtain by the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of professional customer service experience in higher education.
  • Advanced training and/or coursework towards an advanced degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned admissions recruiting territory, including written and verbal communication.
  • Travel to assigned areas within Texas for recruitment purposes, with travel periods of 6-8 weeks in the fall and 4-6 weeks in the spring.
  • Track student communications and monitor technology used in the admissions process.
  • Maintain and support marketing efforts through various platforms and materials.
  • Participate in meetings to strategize recruitment goals and assist with admissions sessions and special events.
  • Assist prospective students with questions during campus visits and collect necessary documents for admissions decisions.
  • Attend campus events and community events to promote UIW and encourage prospective students toward enrollment.
  • Review prospective student documents for admission decisions and update records accurately and timely.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
