About The Position

The Admissions Coordinator at Spaulding Rehabilitation is responsible for managing the admissions process, which includes communication with referring facilities, scheduling admissions, and verifying insurance. This role involves making admissions decisions, assigning patients to appropriate teams and units, and maintaining statistical reports related to admissions. The coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth referral process and managing patient information effectively.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a related discipline or relevant experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience, preferably in hospital admissions.
  • Relevant clinical background preferred.
  • Experience with medical terminology and hospital ADT systems preferred.
  • Computer proficiency required, with a preference for Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software.
  • Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Review clinical information to make admissions decisions in collaboration with physicians and case managers.
  • Coordinate between referral sources and the facility to ensure a timely referral process.
  • Maintain and update referral information for inpatient units as per established standards.
  • Manage patient electronic information using 4next and entity referral systems according to guidelines.
  • Verify demographic and insurance information, obtaining necessary signatures as required.
  • Assign patients to physicians, nursing units, and/or beds to meet patient and organizational goals.
  • Coordinate daily clinical updates with liaison representatives from respective facilities.
  • Prepare conversion data and related reports to meet established goals.
  • Provide facility tours to represent organizational services accurately.
  • Contribute to technology initiatives aimed at enhancing the admissions process.
