About The Position

The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for managing all non-clinical aspects of the admissions process. This role ensures the facility meets census goals by coordinating with internal departments, external marketing teams, and referral sources. The Admissions Coordinator works with the Director of Nurse Case Management to ensure proper resident placement and maintain the facility’s census and case mix.

Requirements

Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
Decision-Making: Ability to make independent decisions in high-pressure situations.
Interpersonal Skills: Tactful and professional interaction with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
Teamwork: Collaborative attitude, able to work harmoniously with others.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Customer Service: Patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition when dealing with residents and their families.
Mobility: Ability to move throughout the facility, including lifting and assisting with residents if needed.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
Ability to handle emotional and mental stress in challenging situations.
Must meet health and physical requirements set by the facility, including a medical examination.
Able to lift and move a specified weight, assist in evacuations if necessary

Nice To Haves

Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher in a related field.
Preferred: Experience with insurance verification, authorization, or in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

Ensure residents meet admission criteria and prepare all required identification records.
Maintain accurate records of available beds and admissions paperwork.
Develop and maintain effective communication with facility staff and external agencies.
Obtain necessary signatures and documentation from residents and guardians.
Ensure accurate resident information is available to relevant departments (e.g., nursing, government agencies).
Assemble and verify pre-admission documents.
Process insurance and Medicare paperwork and provide required data.
Notify nursing service upon resident arrival and address any admission-related issues.
Stay updated on Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
Maintain daily and monthly census reports.
Attend facility committee meetings as directed by the supervisor.
Perform tasks according to facility policies and supervisor instructions.
Foster a positive work environment and maintain a professional, warm atmosphere for residents and staff.
Participate in training, orientation, and annual in-service programs.
Stay current on OSHA/CDC guidelines, including infection control training.
Adhere to facility safety and infection control policies.
