Requirements

  • Position may require walking, standing sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds and carries small objects from waist to chest.
  • Requires ability to work long periods on the phone;to hear and speak clearly over the phone.
  • Must be able to read and write and specifically record information and read medical records.
  • Regularly needs to bend, stoop and reach.
  • Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Requires excellent organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, referral sources, patients/families, community resources, etc.
  • Ability to exercise professional independent judgement in planning own work.
  • Must be flexible with work hours to accommodate work volumes.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay calm when dealing with several issues at one time.
  • Must be comfortable answering a high volume of incoming telephone calls.
  • Must have excellent computer and data entry skills.
  • Typing 50 wpm with knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment.
  • Requires organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of software programs such as Windows, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings and weekends is necessary.
  • Must have exceptional customer service experience.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
  • Customer service experience in the mental health field and excellent computer/data entry skills required.
  • Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor’s degree in social services or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Approximately 20% of time is spent with phone and reception triage
  • 20% with assisting crisis evaluators in the admission process with pre-authorizations and admission paperwork
  • 60% will be working directly with patients on units completing consents and outcomes
