About The Position

The Admissions Coordinator at the Elliott School of International Affairs (ESIA) is responsible for assisting in the recruitment and enrollment of qualified candidates for graduate programs. This role involves daily interaction with prospective students, managing application processes, providing customer service, and supporting admissions events. The position is hybrid, requiring both remote and in-office work in Washington, D.C.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study.
  • Demonstrated interest in higher education and previous work experience in a university setting are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, communication (both written and oral), and cross-cultural skills.
  • Comfort with standard business software—Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, etc.
  • Knowledge of and some experience with databases—Salesforce, Slate, and Banner is highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a university setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with prospective and admitted students answering their questions through email, telephone, and face-to-face.
  • Process application materials received online and in hard copy and enter relevant information into admissions databases.
  • Supervise student worker performance.
  • Maintain the office calendar and supplies, and provide other administrative support, including event registration and travel planning.
  • Assist with organizing, planning, and implementing on and off-campus events such as information sessions, open houses, graduate fairs, and receptions.
  • Serve as presenter for weekly information sessions.
  • Attend evening events as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
