San Diego Humane Society is hiring Full-Time Admissions Associates for our El Cajon team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting interviews with guests relinquishing animals and completing intake procedures for all animals being admitted to SDHS, performing euthanasia procedures as needed. What you’ll do: Assist members of the public in the admittance of their pet or stray animal, diverting intake wherever possible, through proper interviewing techniques and completion of necessary paperwork. Assess situations efficiently and assist with triaging incoming animals that may be sick, injured, or aggressive. Accurately and reliably enter notes in the organization’s electronic record keeping system objectively describing behavior and medical related concerns observed at time of admittance. Perform euthanasia in accordance with AVMA guidelines. (Must be certified; training towards certification will be provided.) Once certified, participate in euthanasia procedures of in-house animal and owner-relinquished animals. Humanely handle and restrain domestic animals using proper humane equipment and fear free methods/techniques. Perform minor medical tasks such as conducting initial physical examinations, scanning for microchip presence, administering subQ vaccinations and oral general de-wormer, and performing blood draws at time of admittance. Evaluate and assist with the behavior assessment of all incoming animals, and collaborate with various departments to ensure appropriate pathways of incoming animals.
