About The Position

Under the direction of the Admissions & Adoptions Supervisor, this position is responsible for activities in the Admissions, Adoptions and Lost Pet Centers regarding animal intake and adoption, including scheduling, customer service, and initial vaccinations and microchipping. This position will coordinate with foster parents for animals needing temporary placement outside of the shelter, assist in maintaining a foster database and procedures to expedite permanent placement, schedule meet-and-greets with potential adopters, and review and maintain lost and found pet reports to reunite found pets with their owners. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required with experience in animal welfare and shelter operations preferred.
• Must be skilled in animal handling and have general knowledge of a variety of animal species and their health, care, and behavior.
• The qualified candidate will be proficient in oral and written communication, computer usage and the use of basic computer programs, with a strong customer service background.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, manage time efficiently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, stressful setting.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and complete required NIMS level training within the first six months of hire.
• Strength and agility sufficient to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. And up to 100 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach and maneuver on uneven terrain.
• Ability to handle and control animals of various species, size and temperament, including aggressive and dangerous animals.
• Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking and animal handling.

Nice To Haves
