About The Position

The Admission Registered Nurse (RN) at Buena Vista Hospice plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care to patients and their families during their hospice journey. Requirements

• Registered Nursing License
• 1+ year of hospice experience
• Ability to perform prolonged or considerable walking or standing
• Ability to lift, position, and/or transfer patients
• Ability to lift supplies and equipment
• Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and/or crouching
• Possess visual acuity and hearing to perform required nursing skills
• Maintain a current CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Complete initial and comprehensive assessments of patient and family to determine hospice need.
• Provide a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illnesses.
• Utilize all elements of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care.
• Assess and evaluate the patient's status using health assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis.
• Develop a care plan that establishes goals based on nursing diagnosis and incorporates palliative nursing actions.
• Initiate appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
• Counsel the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs.
• Provide health care instructions to the patient as appropriate per assessment and plan.
• Assist the patient with activities of daily living and facilitate efforts toward self-sufficiency and comfort care.
• Communicate with the clinical team regarding the patient's care in the future.
