About The Position

The Admission Desk Cashier handles front desk operations in a fast-paced children’s museum. Duties include safety and security, handling cash, checks, credit card payments, record and tabulate statistical information, and be able to deal with heavy contact with groups, young visitors and families. Assists with keeping visiting tour groups on schedule. Maintains a safe, current and clean reception area. This person will also be cross trained in the DISCOVERY Store to allow full understanding of the visitor experience.

Requirements

2-3+ years experienced cashier with superior customer service skills
Candidates must be accurate and detail-oriented, with the ability to handle a fast-paced desk in a friendly and professional manner
Include and are not limited to light and heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), sitting, bending, walking and standing
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
High School diploma or GED

Responsibilities

Point person for the front-end area of the museum
Handle financial front desk transactions
Welcome and/or direct visitors in person or by telephone, answer inquiries
Maintain security by following procedures; monitor and report operations issues
Maintain operations equipment: telephone, cash register, and additional transaction equipment
Learn about museum programs and services and communicate information to the public
Sell membership and birthday experiences to visitors
Operate a POS and sell gift shop items
Record and tabulate statistical information
Reconcile statistics and finances daily for front desk and gift shop cash drawers
Assist with keeping tour groups and parties on schedule
Learn about Museum programs and services and communicate information to the public.
Assist in the execution of Annual Store Inventory.
