About The Position
The Admission Counselor for the College of Performing Arts at The New School is a vital role that combines independent work and teamwork to recruit highly qualified students into the performing arts programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. This position is designed for a dynamic and enthusiastic professional who is not only a specialist in performing arts but also represents the diverse educational offerings at The New School to students, families, faculty, and influencer networks. The Admission Counselor will engage with prospective students through various channels, including high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and performing arts festivals, ensuring that The New School's programs are well-represented and accessible to a broad audience. The role requires extensive travel throughout the United States and potentially some international travel, necessitating flexibility to work weekends and evenings during peak admission periods. The Admission Counselor will serve as a liaison between the Performing Arts faculty and administration, facilitating collaboration on events, application reviews, and retention efforts. Additionally, the incumbent will review admission applications, assist in planning on-campus recruitment and audition events, and manage communications with prospective students and their families. This position also involves maintaining a social media presence to engage with prospective students and staying current on industry trends in college admission counseling and the performing arts sector.
