About The Position

The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for managing an effective system to gather resident information prior to and upon admission to assure the most appropriate placement of the resident in accordance with established facility protocol, local, state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited, state approved LPN program or school of nursing or bachelor’s degree in other field of study.
  • Licensure: Current licensure as indicated by profession.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience in admissions, marketing or sales role in a nursing center or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact or educate residents.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Knowledge of clinical practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the long-term care facility.
  • Working knowledge of admissions processes for long term care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must be patient/customer service oriented, projecting professionalism and socio-economic and cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an effective system to gather resident information prior to and upon admission to assure the most appropriate placement of the resident
  • Responsible for gathering sufficient pre-admission data to determine resident level of care and the ability of the facility to best meet the needs of the resident
  • Completes pre-admission and admission inquiry forms
  • Coordinates with facility departments when a resident is admitted, transferred or discharged
  • Coordinates room assignments for residents in consultation with administration and the nursing department
  • Serves as a facility liaison for admitting, transferring, and discharging processes
  • Explains facility philosophy, policies and procedures to potential and new residents or the residents' representatives
  • Works directly with the account manager on admissions ensuring all financial information is accurately explained
  • Acts as a liaison between transferring institutions and the facility
  • Participates in marketing the facility and maintaining an acceptable census level
  • Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes and customer satisfaction
  • Provides assistance to team members as requested or required
  • Regular and timely attendance is required for this job
  • Participates on committees/councils and performance improvement activities as requested/required
  • Successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements
  • Practices within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries
  • Maintains expertise in the area
  • Serves as a role model by demonstrating positive team-based behaviors
  • Shows commitment to personal professional growth through the pursuit of advanced knowledge and skills
