Lexington Regional Health Center is seeking an Admission Clerk for its Family Medicine Specialists department. This non-exempt position reports to the Clinic Administrator. The role involves accurately screening and registering patients, ensuring all demographic, relationship, and insurance information is entered promptly and confidentially. The clerk is responsible for obtaining patient consents, documenting Medicare information, and providing patients with copies of the Patient Bill of Rights, Payment Policies, and HIPAA Privacy information. Key duties also include managing various work queues (Eligibility, Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire Completion, Incomplete Verification, and Registration Error/Follow-up), answering and routing phone calls, and processing patient payments (cash, check, credit card) both in person and over the phone. The Admission Clerk will post payments, balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift, and follow up with patients for additional information needed for insurance claims. The role also requires ensuring patients and visitors adhere to current infection control guidelines, maintaining an environment that meets governing body standards, and performing duties that may involve blood exposure risks. The clerk is expected to maintain patient and staff safety using tools like Teamstepps and Just Culture, and regular attendance at the assigned work location is required. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
