About The Position

The Administrator of Emergency Services (AES) at the West Platte Fire Protection District is a full-time supervisory and administrative role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the ambulance service. The AES will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while managing personnel, resources, and community relations. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively communicate and collaborate with staff and the Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Missouri certification and license as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of training and experience as a certified and licensed Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
  • Valid Missouri driver's license.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • HazMat and Incident Command training.
  • Knowledge of EMS department management, reporting, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Considerable knowledge of the activities of the West Platte Fire Protection District.
  • Ability to communicate and express ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in written form.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in emergency services administration.
  • Familiarity with computer software utilized by the district.

Responsibilities

  • Serve and perform any EMS position as needed.
  • Cover a minimum of four (4) ambulance shifts (48 hours) per week.
  • Supervise all employees and volunteers of the district, either directly or through subordinate supervisors.
  • Develop and enforce policies, rules, and regulations related to district operations and activities.
  • Seek, evaluate, and recommend candidates for employment; evaluate performance, take disciplinary action, and/or terminate employment when authorized.
  • Develop and utilize continued professional development and mentoring of personnel with the assistance of the fire chief and other department officers.
  • Confer with the fire chief to develop a work schedule to ensure minimum staffing levels for 24-hour coverage.
  • Maintain time sheets and submit payroll records.
  • Order supplies and maintain a written inventory of supplies.
  • Prepare and analyze EMS records and reports to comply with all local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Maintain security and records for narcotics purchase, use, storage, and disposal in accordance with regulations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the EMS ambulance and related equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Direct and participate in the preparation of the annual budget and monitor ordinary purchases and expenditures.
  • Respond to fires and catastrophic emergencies as determined by standard operating procedures.
  • Identify the community's emergency medical service needs and actively participate in professional organizations.
