Requirements

EDUCATION LEVEL: P referred - Master’s degree in an approved program which qualifies for principal certification with the state of South Dakota. Undergraduate or graduate emphasis in Special Education. Minimum - Enrolled in a Master’s degree program eligible for degree completion and South Dakota principal certification within two years of hire.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: A minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires constant handeye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent walking, talking, writing. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists, fingers, and hands are required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the best educational practices and effective schools research.

Responsibilities

Participates in Leadership Development Institute sessions and activities.
Assists in the supervision of staff assigned to the building.
Conducts drop-in observations and works with teachers to improve student achievement.
Assists the principal with chairing IEP meetings.
Assists the principal in providing a safe and secure environment for learning.
Assists the principal with student discipline and behavior management.
Communicates with staff, parents, students and the school community.
