About The Position

The Assisted Living Administrator-in-Training (AIT) and Nursing Home Administrator-in-Training (AIT) programs are unpaid programs designed for individuals who aspire to become licensed Assisted Living Administrator or Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. This comprehensive, hands-on training program will provide in-depth exposure to the daily operations and management of an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) or a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), including resident care, compliance, human resources, financial management, and strategic planning. Under the supervision of the licensed preceptor, the AIT will learn the critical skills required to manage an Assisted Living or a Nursing Home effectively, ensuring high-quality care for residents while complying with state and/or federal regulations. The AIT will assist in the operations of the Assisted Living or the Nursing Home and play a key role in learning and supporting the various administrative and management functions required to maintain a facility’s standards of excellence. This is an unpaid position. The hours are 9am-5pm

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field such as Nursing is required.
  • Ability to obtain Approval from Board of Long Term-Care Administrators for AIT Program within 30 days of starting work.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully, effectively and with compassion with all people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow the Assisted Living Preceptor or Nursing Home Preceptor and other leadership to understand the operations, management, and strategic direction of the Assisted Living or the Nursing Home.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring smooth functioning of resident care, staffing, and services.
  • Learn to manage departments such as nursing, housekeeping, dietary, activities, and maintenance, ensuring coordination and efficiency across the facility.
  • Take on increasing leadership responsibilities, conducting meetings, and making decisions as the training progresses.
  • Support the implementation of care plans and monitor resident outcomes, ensuring that residents’ physical, emotional, and social needs are being met.
