The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. This position is responsible for the development and delivery of curriculum to include training objectives, assessment techniques, and practical applications as both an independent function and in support of public safety research to support programs administered by the Leadership Development Institute and within DPSCS. This position is responsible for the coordination and teaching of Leadership Development Institute (LDI) programs and other related tasks, as deemed appropriate by the Director. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the Program Coordinator to follow trends and updates in adult learning theory and practice. Oversee the ongoing development and delivery of in person and some online training programs. This involves ensuring curriculum is current and delivered in a manner appropriate for the training audience. It also involves the securing and coordination of instructors, related resources, classrooms, materials, and equipment. Develop/Revise lesson plans, power points, quizzes, practical scenarios, and course evaluations. Prepare program schedules and reserve classrooms as needed. Grade assessments. Close out classes. Develop objectives and assessment techniques as the direct result of independent research or in conjunction with the public safety researchers using recognized instructional design methods. This may include developing practical exercises to support learning objectives. Coordinates, instructs and manages the delivery of programs offered by Leadership Development Institute (LDI). Conducts research with regard to instructional resources, materials, and strategies for use in instructional design and development. Evaluates training through review and analysis of student evaluations and feedback to program managers and instructors. Consults with other units within Leadership Development Institute (LDI) and Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) to provide training development technical assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of experience in administrative or professional work.
  • Two years of work experience coordinating, developing, implementing, and teaching First Line Supervisor, FIrst Line Administrator, Leadership, Human Resources, Professional Development, and/or other training programs for adult learners

Responsibilities
