About The Position

Provide instructional leadership in the development and supervision of the following programs: Adult Basic Education (ABE) General Education Development (GED) Phoenix alternative Education High School completion (HSC) Responsible for development of master schedule of classes and the assignment of staff for all alternative and adult education day, night and summer programs Responsible for strategic planning to maximize programs, activities and personal utilization within PHASD guidelines and objectives Conducts Building Procedures Council, staff meetings and other committees as required. Attends High School Principal meetings, Administrative Council meetings and other appropriate meetings Responsible for hiring, supervision, discipline, and evaluation of staff members Provides leadership in the development and promotion of positive student attitudes and school morale Maintains and promotes positive public relations within PHASD and the community Develops and implements appropriate educational programming to meet the needs of students and to improve student achievement, retention and placement Responsible for completion of annual school improvement reports and activities per PHASD, RESA and/or State requirement Responsible for student discipline Responsible for supervision and coordination of other activities necessary for the efficient and accountable operation of the programs, buildings, and grounds Knowledgeable and supportive of PHASD MICIP goals, strategies and activities Assumes responsibility for budget allocation Responsible for pupil accounting, Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Michigan Department of Career Development (MDCD), Federal reports and grant proposals. Coordinates programs, activities and practices with other comparable programs of the PHASD Assume other responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent or designee Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and projects a good public image of the School district in dealing with the community and employee groups

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree with emphasis in education (preferred)
  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
  • Valid Michigan Teaching and Administrative Certificate (preferred)
  • Knowledge and understanding of adult education rules and practices (preferred)
  • Successful administrative experience in a school system (preferred)
