About The Position

The Administrator / Admin–LPN specializing in Memory and Behavioral Care provides leadership, clinical support, and administrative coordination within a memory care or behavioral health setting. This role ensures high-quality resident-centered care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and cognitive or behavioral conditions. The Admin–LPN supports both operational and clinical functions, promotes a safe and therapeutic environment, and serves as a resource for staff, residents, and families.

Requirements

  • Active LPN license in good standing.
  • Knowledge of dementia-related conditions, behavioral symptoms, and therapeutic communication strategies.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and de-escalation abilities.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and general office software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in memory care, dementia care, or behavioral health strongly preferred.
  • Previous administrative or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations within the memory and behavioral care units.
  • Support staffing, scheduling, and timekeeping processes to maintain adequate coverage.
  • Assist with compliance efforts, audits, and documentation required for state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate communication across departments, including nursing, activities, dietary, and behavioral specialists.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, incident reports, behavioral logs, and care documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and administrative orientation for new employees.
  • Manage supplies, equipment, and vendor relationships for the memory care unit.
  • Provide hands-on nursing care to residents with memory loss or behavioral challenges, following care plans and clinical protocols.
  • Administer medications safely and monitor for side effects, especially psychotropic medications.
  • Document changes in behavior, cognition, mood, and physical status.
  • Support behavioral intervention plans under the guidance of RNs, physicians, or mental health professionals.
  • Participate in care planning, assessments, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Respond to resident behavioral escalations using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Ensure adherence to dementia-care best practices and safety protocols.
  • Build trusting relationships with residents, using person-centered care techniques tailored to memory impairment.
  • Provide education and support to families regarding disease progression, care plans, and behavior management.
  • Address resident or family concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Serve as a role model for compassionate, respectful care in memory and behavioral units.
  • Offer guidance to caregivers and support staff on dementia and behavioral-care techniques.
  • Assist with ongoing staff development, including training in de-escalation, dementia communication, and safety.
  • Ensure a calm, structured, and supportive environment for residents and staff.
