About The Position

Are you passionate about community development and seeking a role that allows you to make a significant impact? Uptown Partners of Pittsburgh is looking for an Administrative Support work study student to assist our Executive Director and staff. This role will provide valuable experience in non-profit operations, community engagement, and administrative support. Uptown Partners of Pittsburgh (UP), founded in 2007, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Uptown Pittsburgh. We are a collective of residents, institutions, business owners, and concerned stakeholders working together to foster a vibrant community. We aim to ensure the development of a clean, safe, green, and equitable neighborhood by: Rebuilding a mixed-income population through reclaiming vacant properties and encouraging new residential developments. Attracting new neighborhood retail and commercial businesses while supporting existing ones. Fostering high-quality design in all development projects. Creating a healthy environment where the arts flourish and integrate into the urban landscape. Current Focus: Uptown Partners is actively collaborating with the City of Pittsburgh, community members, and various stakeholders in the Uptown/West Oakland EcoInnovation District plan. This initiative aims to create a resilient, vibrant, resource-efficient, and just neighborhood, serving as a model for urban development. Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing an undergraduate bachelor’s degree.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Minute Taking: Documenting meeting discussions and decisions accurately.
  • Scheduling: Managing calendars, scheduling meetings and appointments for the Executive Director.
  • Directory Maintenance: Keeping company directories updated.
  • Newsletter Creation: Creating and editing the UpBeat newsletter.
  • Board Meeting Preparation: Compiling documents and materials for board meetings.
  • Program Assistance: Supporting UP programs including the Tustin Street Garden, Food Distributions, Workforce Development, and community meetings.
  • Social Media Management: Managing and updating UP's social media platforms.
