About The Position

Functions as chief Administrative Officer for the Lead Warden’s Office. Responsible for the establishment and implementation of objectives, formulation and interpretation of policies and procedures in accordance with division requirements, and evaluations of all institutional programs. Serves as an Administrative Duty Officer, managing all institutional operations on a rotational basis. Supervises staff and manages the inmate appeal processes and institutional grievance processes. Coordinates, directs and manages American Correctional Association (ACA) audit processes. Promote a satisfying and rewarding work environment for all employees, free from intimidation, sexual harassment and discrimination. Serves as the ADA Coordinator for the institution.

Requirements

  • experience with correctional policies, practices, and procedures, as well as experience with management, supervision, and team‑building methods in a correctional or similar operational setting.
  • Work history should reflect familiarity with interrelated correctional disciplines and the criminal justice system.
  • Applicants must have experience applying effective communication, human relations, analytical, and leadership skills in a professional environment.
  • Experience making responsible, fair, and consistent decisions and maintaining impartiality when interacting with staff and inmates is required.
  • Work history should show experience reading, writing, and communicating effectively, motivating staff, and working with both established and emerging operational concepts.
  • Experience supervising diverse staff, building performance-oriented teams, and analyzing and resolving operational issues is essential.
  • Relevant experience may also include serving in a senior administrative role supporting a warden’s office; overseeing the implementation of policies, procedures, and program objectives; supervising grievance and appeals processes; coordinating ACA audit activities; serving in an administrative duty officer capacity; supporting a workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and intimidation; and managing ADA-related administrative responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or training related to criminal justice, corrections administration, leadership development, or public administration.
  • Completion of job‑related training such as supervisory programs, grievance management training, PREA‑related administrative training, ADA compliance training, or ACA audit preparation is beneficial.
  • Certifications or credentials related to corrections operations, leadership, or administrative management may strengthen an applicant’s qualifications.
  • Additional experience supporting institutional audits, managing compliance-related functions, coordinating staff training, or working with specialized correctional programs.
