About the position

This is a Civil Service position with a non-negotiable annual salary of $56,731.74 (NAGE Unit 1, Grade 16, Step 1). The role involves preparing materials such as memoranda, letters, confidential information, and reports. The candidate will create forms using a personal computer according to agency format and, along with Unit staff, input data into the Department's inmate management system. Responsibilities also include ordering necessary supplies for the unit, maintaining relevant supply logs, and tracking all statistics and performance measures of Disciplinary Officers and Hearing Officers through daily and monthly sheets. The candidate will log detailed disciplinary information necessary for trend analysis, learn the disciplinary module of the Department's inmate management system, and remain up to date on all Department training requirements. Additionally, the role includes helping to maintain the Central Disciplinary Unit (CDU) intranet website and providing general administrative support for the CDU, including filing and maintaining case folders. Awareness of and adherence to laws, rules, regulations, and policies governing all employees is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in clerical or secretarial work.
  • An Associate's degree or higher may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
  • No felony convictions, including actions defined in 5 U.S.C. 301; U.S.C. 509, 510; 42 U.S.C. 15601-15609.
  • No history of engaging in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution.
  • No convictions of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity facilitated by force or coercion.
