About The Position

The Nebraska State Penitentiary is looking for a detail-oriented person to serve as our public information officer (PIO), PREA compliance manager, litigation and risk manager, and court processing liaison. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, accounting or any discipline related to the work assigned.
• One year of experience in planning, organizing, and implementing program administrative or business financial functions.
• Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid driver's license.
• Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
• Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.

Nice To Haves

• Experience preparing responses to litigation requests.
• Public relations experience including media contact and preparing newsletters.
• Two years corrections experience, of which one year must be in a supervisor capacity.
• Computer skills to include Word, Excel and Power Point.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the PIO and litigation officer.
• Assist with planning and ensuring compliance with PREA standards.
• Coordinate all media requests for information as well as respond to inquiries from the public.
• Work with the courts as a liaison for court hearings.
• Monitor and respond to litigation requests and NEOC complaints.
• Supervise and evaluate subordinate staff.
• Serve as a member of the executive staff to discuss and analyze institutional needs.
• Serve as a member of institutional committees as assigned.
• Serve as the lead for all records retention and file storage area within the institution.
• Review inmate grievances and provide suggested responses.
