About The Position

The Administrative Officer for the Care Management & Social Work Services at the Marion, Illinois VA Medical Center plays a crucial role in managing various administrative functions essential for the effective operation of the service. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must meet Time-In-Grade requirements for GS-09 level, having served 52 weeks at GS-07 level.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 level in the Federal service is required, including skills in applying analytical methods to health care operations.
  • Education may substitute for experience; a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree is acceptable.
  • Combination of education and experience may also qualify.

  • Experience in health care operations and administrative support functions.
  • Knowledge of federal personnel policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with budgetary constraints and financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare job analyses for job postings and coordinate personnel actions.
  • Maintain personnel-related records in the six-part system.
  • Advise management on administrative and clinical orientation processes for new staff.
  • Provide administrative orientation and training for the Service and ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Audit competency folders for all Social Work staff quarterly to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Consult with supervisors to draft, implement, and review Service-level personnel policies.
  • Serve as an approving official for purchase orders for the Service.
  • Attend Director's Morning Report and follow up on assigned issues.
  • Assist the Chief in assessing the effectiveness of professional services provided to patients.
  • Conduct special studies and analyze complex problems related to manpower, office equipment, and workload statistics.
  • Prepare and certify timecards, administer the unplanned leave system, and track leave in collaboration with supervisors.
