About The Position

The Administrative Officer at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System plays a crucial role in supporting the mission and vision of the VA by planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining effective programs, policies, and procedures within the Prescott facility. This position is responsible for overseeing various administrative functions to ensure efficient operations and support for veterans and their beneficiaries.

Requirements

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be able to serve a probationary period if required.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Time-In-Grade Requirement: Must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07 level for GS-09 position.

  • Experience in processing personnel actions and records management.
  • Experience in budget management in assigned program areas.

Responsibilities

  • Administer programs and activities in support of veterans' benefits.
  • Perform personnel operations including position classification, labor mapping, travel, grievance procedures, performance standards, and disciplinary actions.
  • Represent management in labor management meetings and resolve conflicts or problems that may arise.
  • Provide constant surveillance, evaluation, and planning to ensure efficient utilization of space based on program demands.
  • Serve as approving official for orders for supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Develop, initiate, and implement administrative policies and procedures for facility-wide areas of responsibility.
  • Manage and coordinate all administrative aspects of the program.
  • Analyze and interpret workload and other data used in resource planning.
  • Compile budget information and maintain running account of funds allocated and expended.
  • Prepare and/or review requests for construction justifications and interface with various services to schedule work or resolve problems.
