About The Position

The Maryland Military Department is looking for a candidate to fill the Contractual position of Office Manager with the STARBASE Maryland program! This position will work from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. GRADE 13 LOCATION OF POSITION Warfield Air National Guard Base 2701 Eastern Blvd Building 1109 Middle River, Maryland 21220 Main Purpose of Job The office manager is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and coordinating office operations and procedures that provide organizational effectiveness and efficiency, all while performing in a manner that fully supports, directly or indirectly, the inspiration of students and creates memorable, positive learning experiences at STARBASE Maryland. This program is an educational outreach program for 5th and 6th grade students designed to increase the knowledge, interests and skills of youth in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through an inquiry-based curriculum with hands-on, experiential activities in a high-tech, fast paced environment.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Employees must be able to successfully complete a State and Federal background check.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland with less than 5 points to operate a state vehicle.
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required.
  • This position will require the ability to pass a Federal background check in addition to a State background to access the facilities and computer systems by being issued a CAC card.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain this access to the facility and CAC card is a condition of employment for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Teacher or Paraprofessional.
  • Experience working with elementary and middle school age children.
  • Experience and knowledge of the State of Maryland’s academic standards.
  • At least one year of experience as an Office Manager or Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily office operations such as, reception duties, managing correspondence (phone, email, mail), etc
  • Maintain and manage all data, records, and assessments using appropriate databases or filing systems.
  • Assist with classroom instruction when needed, including preparing materials, reinforcing lessons, or leading activities.
  • Manage office supply levels, complete inventory documentation (e.g., SF-2 forms), and tracks assets purchased with program funds and oversee logistical planning.
  • Create, update, and distribute calendars and schedules for the STARBASE program.
