The Administrative Manager acts as the Administrator of the Day (A of the Day) while on duty, contributing to covering the 24/7 A of the Day shifts. This role is responsible for the overall coordination of patient flow and services delivered to clients, working collaboratively with all members of the health care team. The Administrative Manager team develops and maintains plans to ensure quality patient care through effective management of total patient care services, including a bed management plan, plans for services beyond capacity, and plans to enhance coordination of care and ensure good communication with 'hand-offs' between settings. When on duty, the Administrative Managers actively manage patient flow throughout the hospital, participate in clinical assessments as indicated, facilitate patient hand-offs, and provide supervision to hospital staff on duty. They monitor the implementation of strategic quality improvement processes as assigned. Each full-time Administrative Manager assumes responsibility for the management of AOD, CNA, and Administrative Supervisor staff as assigned. Direct supervision is provided by the Chief Nursing Officer, while day-to-day operational direction is provided by the Nursing Leadership Team through a consensus process. The Administrative Manager is a member of the SPH Leadership Team and the Nursing Leadership Team, with full access to all meetings, forums, and education/development activities. In the absence of the Hospital Administrator and/or designee, the Administrative Manager has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of administrators.
