About The Position

Wayne Metro seeks a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for administrative operations and community-centered work. This internship provides hands-on experience in the day-to-day functions of a large, multi-site nonprofit organization, offering an excellent opportunity to develop skills in office administration, records management, communications, and project coordination. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across departments to support administrative functions and contribute to the agency's mission.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Interest in community development, social services, or nonprofit administration
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • High school diploma/general education degree (GED) OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Ability to work 5 days in office as required by the department
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professionalism in appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability
  • Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability
  • Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies, procedures, and mission

  • Previous office or administrative experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support to the Administration department, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation
  • Assist with filing, scanning, and maintaining accurate physical and electronic records in accordance with Wayne Metro records management procedures
  • Support data entry and records updates across agency systems
  • Respond to internal inquiries and route requests to appropriate departments or staff
  • Prepare agendas, meeting materials, and follow-up notes for departmental meetings
  • Assist with tracking and organizing program documentation, reports, and compliance materials
  • Assist with coordinating special projects assigned by the Administration department
  • Support the planning and logistics for internal meetings, training sessions, and agency events
  • Compile and organize data or information as requested for departmental reporting
  • Assist with developing internal communications, forms, and workflow documentation
  • Participate in cross-departmental collaboration as directed by the supervising manager
