About The Position

The Administrative Healthcare Internship at Sutter Health is a 10-12 week paid program designed for Master's prepared individuals to gain hands-on experience in various administrative specializations within an integrated, not-for-profit healthcare system. Interns will work closely with preceptors, participate in management activities, and develop a comprehensive understanding of healthcare operations and strategic initiatives, preparing them for future leadership roles in the industry.

Requirements

• Must have an undergraduate degree and be a current graduate student at an accredited university.
• Preferred fields of study include MBA with a healthcare management focus, MHA, MPH with a health management & policy focus, JD, or MSN with dual degree MBA, MHA, or MPH.
• Experience in the healthcare industry is helpful.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex assignments.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of current issues affecting the healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma approaches to process improvement.
• Experience analyzing complex issues and recommending solutions.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in administrative operations within acute care hospitals, medical groups/foundations, and ambulatory care environments.
• Participate in project work and management activities to understand healthcare delivery challenges.
• Engage in one-on-one mentoring with Sutter Health executives.
• Develop skills in leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
