About The Position

The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) offers academic excellence within communication, digital media, mass media and film programs that will redefine content creation, digital art, and communication for the 21st century. NSCM’s communication and digital media programs joined the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy at UCF Downtown Campus, a 21st Century learning place with access to arts, culture, nightlife and business. The Nicholson School of Communication and Media at the University of Central Florida’s downtown campus is seeking an Administrative Coordinator I to support and enhance the daily operations of the department. This role is responsible for coordinating key administrative functions, managing operational tasks, and providing critical support for projects and activities that advance the mission of NSCM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Nice To Haves

  • Customer-facing service experience.
  • Exposure to academic or educational program coordination, including supporting faculty, students, and program operations in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and resource coordination tools.
  • Experience working with datasets.
  • Familiarity with Workday, PeopleSoft, or similar systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with ability to generate reports.
  • Excellent organizational strategies and time management practices to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome students, faculty and visitors seeking assistance by providing a positive, customer service focused experience.
  • Address general questions, and direct guests to their desired destinations.
  • Serve as the office manager/receptionist for the NSCM Downtown division.
  • Review and implement standard operational procedures for effective administrative functions.
  • Facilitate communication between NSCM leadership and program members (faculty, staff, students).
  • Answer telephone calls, emails and other forms of communication providing a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain office supply orders.
  • Generate and oversee equipment requests.
  • Organize daily mail processing.
  • Assist faculty with administrative requests associated with teaching, research and service.
  • Support the Assistant Director for the Communication program by facilitating administrative functions associated with faculty recruitment; candidate interviews, guest lecturers, scheduling and overseeing logistics for any area meetings; preparing minutes and reports as requested.
  • Provide general support for the Assistant Director of Academic Programs and the Graduate Admissions Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned.
