About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! The Administrative Associate II is located at Alexander Correctional in Taylorsville, NC and works within the Health Services/Behavioral Health Section of the Department of Adult Corrections. Duties for this position include but are not limited to: Processing all incoming and outgoing mail. Receiving incoming shipments of supplies, materials and/or equipment for the Mental Health department. Ensuring the efficient and timely processing of offender and staff mail while in compliance with established DAC policies and procedures. Coordinating research for mental health offender grievances. Performing a variety of office and/or technical tasks in order to accomplish the specialized processing of information, documents and/or materials Scheduling mental health appointments, preparing and maintaining logs/reports, coordinating tracking systems for mental health offenders and meeting daily and monthly deadlines. Planning, understanding and reviewing all completed tasks to ensure accuracy. Communicating both orally and in writing with offenders, offender families, staff, management, government officials and the general public. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
