About The Position

Lake Michigan Insurance Agency (LMIA), owned by Lake Michigan Credit Union, is seeking a professional and customer-focused Administrative Assistant to join our team. This role serves as the first point of contact for clients and visitors, playing a key part in delivering a welcoming and efficient experience while supporting daily agency operations. Requirements

  • 1–3 years of administrative, customer service, or related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a courteous and professional demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Comfortable interacting with clients, team members, and external partners
  • Reliable, adaptable, and willing to support team needs as they arise
  • Proficiency in standard office software and systems (e.g. Microsoft Office)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an insurance or financial services environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients and visitors—both in person and over the phone—ensuring a professional and welcoming experience
  • Answer incoming calls, route inquiries to the appropriate team members, and take accurate messages when needed
  • Greet clients, assess their needs, and connect them with the appropriate staff for assistance
  • Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties, including: Maintaining records, files and reports; Data entry and document management; General office support tasks
  • Support departmental overflow needs and assist team members as workload demands allow.
  • Actively monitor and process personal insurance referrals from branches and internal channels, ensuring timely follow-up
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all interactions and documentation
  • Adhere to and champion our core values of curious minds, collaborative hearts, and continuous excellence
  • Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance; comply with LMCU policies and procedures; complete required training
